My coworker, who consistently wore pants without a belt, was getting a little bit down on himself. I could tell because he was lashing out at other employees, telling them to turn around and stop talking. When I asked him what the matter was, his answer surprised me.

“I’ve gotten pantsed every day for the last week and a half,” he told me.

When I brought up that you shouldn’t be too surprised if you never wear a belt, he agreed. My simple solution to just buy a belt was met with the cold reality that he couldn’t afford one.

“Well hey!” I said to him. “I just saw a deal of the day for a Lanvin Paris belt, at $29.99 you can definitely afford it!”

I further explained that the belt was genuine leather and originally priced at $99.99. Not only could he get a quality belt at a bargain price, but it was reversible too; He could wear this belt with practically any pants he owned! The only thing left for him to decide was which style of buckle he wanted, as it came in two varieties.

His sobbing thanks were too much for me, literally. I had to spend most of my lunch break at the store buying a shirt that wasn’t soaked in the tears of joy brought about only by an amazing giveaway of the day. If he ever needs help again, I’m probably going to have to invest in a poncho first.
